His Majesty's Minister at Peking. Mr. Thomas would
suggest also that it should be pointed out to Sir Miles
Lampson that, although the letter to Mr. Tennyson Tan
relates to Dominions and Colonies, the note from the
Chinese Government refers only to dependencies, and it
is desirable therefore that no mention of the
Dominions should be made in his communication to the
Chinese Government.

Colonial Office and Board of Trade.
